Washington State University ("WSU" or "University") recognizes the right of each fraternity and sorority to create policies and regulations of internal governance, as long as said policies do not conflict with those described in this document or any of its appendices.
The University understands that each recognized Greek letter student organization is a not-for-profit corporation duly organized, validly existing and in good standing under the laws of the state of Washington. Furthermore, the University understands that fraternities and sororities have the authority and ability to enter into and perform in accordance with the above agreement and have taken all necessary action to do so.
The purpose of this statement is to reaffirm the relationship between WSU, its recognized chapters and their respective inter/national or regional organizations. When fraternal organizations function in accordance with their stated mission and values, the entire University community benefits from their student leadership, involvement and service in addition to the array of developmental benefits from their individual members. In recognition of the ongoing contributions and potential of the Greek community, WSU continues to provide ongoing support as outlined in this document.
The University is committed to assisting each member chapter of the Interfraternity, National Pan-Hellenic, Panhellenic and United Greek Councils to develop and pursue a positive academic and social atmosphere and to meet both University standards and the standards of its inter/national or regional organization.
Each organization must sign their respective document and submit it to the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life in order to receive approval from the Student Affairs Office and be recognized by the University.
